My windshield wipers do not seem to be working, I replaced the motor and now it only slightly shudders when I first turn them on but doesnt move an inch?! I am not sure what to check next? Thanks for your help!
did you replace the wiper linkage as well? This is typically the culprit. There is a how-to for repairing/rebuilding it or you can just buy a new one or grab one from a junkyard. These parts can get VERY seized up!
Just repaired mine 2 days ago pull the linkage assembly out and remove the linkage from motor clamp in vise and exercise with penetrating fluid there is a small snap ring you can remove also a rubber "O"ring remove this also ,work the assembly slowly if it's stuck try some heat not to much or this will gall up the shaft once free remove it clean and apply never seize hope this helps I've done mine about every year Good Luck
okay and by linkage assembly you mean the part that the wiper arms attach to and the part that attaches to the wiper motor? Thanks for all of your help!!
go to the TDI 101 section (where you posted this thread) and look through the "sticky" posts at the top. One of them is titled "HOW-TO's". Look through the list and find the post "wiper linkage re & re". It explains in full detail how to do it
I attempted to re & re the wiper linkage but ended up breaking it, I used heat and candle trick and wrenching trick and hammer tricks, but the main shaft which the motor connects to ended up breaking before I was able to get it broken free but I appreciate all of the advice and help!
