Biodiesel in \'82 Rabbit Pickup?

I have done a search and not come up with any complete answers. Are there any parts in the older diesels that will fail due to rubber parts and BD?

rubber fuel lines and the rubber hoses going from the injectors to the other injectors may degrade over time from use of BD. I have an 85 Golf diesel and have run BD through it. So far, no problems with the hoses. Keep an eye on the fuel filter. BD is a good solvent and will clean gunk out of your tank.

For the most part, I'd say that you shouldn't have problems if the BD is kept under 50% mix (as I've not had any problems), but doing 100% BD will accelerate the tank being cleaned and possibly degrading the fuel lines.

also, if you can, replace the fuel lines with Viton hoses since they are highly resistant to BD. One of my next mods for my 85.

Just some thoughts.

So there are on rubber seals in the injection pump that could possibly be degraded?
