Personal experience with buyback for TDI with 'rebuilt' title status?

Branded title claims are on hold pending a decision about eligibility from the Claims Review Committee.
Per class counsel@ Leiff Cabraser, they are hoping for a decision by the end of this year, but there are no guarantees. The CRC are not held to any time limitations.

I've read this thread. This is one case and I'm confused about which vehicle he was going in for the appointment for out of the 5 TDIs that were mentioned. Also, it doesn't really sound like the people who were responding in the thread had any personal experience turning in a qualifying TDI with a rebuilt title status.

The appointment I was going in for when I got the cancellation was a rebuilt title.
As for personal experience, previous to May I had turned in around 17 rebuilt title, 5 salvage title, and 15 clean title cars.
Since May there have been only a few branded title claims that have went through, because of the pending hold from the CRC.
Interesting. What do you think it was about the few branded title claims that have gone through since May? Any insights on why those may have gone through and not the others?
Also, impressive numbers overall. You can tell you really care about the environment getting all those cars off the road!

I think VW got the impression, which is probably true, that people were dragging cars back from the near-dead in order to obtain windfall profits from VW's situation, as opposed to the intent of the agreement which was to either fix cars that were in normal use on the road or get them off the road.

I think the ones that have went through since May were because someone in the document review team missed seeing the brand on the title.

How did you get them to buy back a Salvage Title? One of the steps is to show a current registration. In Indiana you cant get a registration until you convert the Salvage Title to a Rebuilt Title.

In the early stages of the turn-in process, the claims specialists were less strict about what they would accept. Those of us with edge case scenarios turned them in early because we suspected certain things would become issues (which later turned out to be an accurate assumption).
So now you will have a much more difficult time bringing a car in that would otherwise have been accepted in the first few months, whether that's due to body damage or title branding.

I own a rebuilt titled 2011 jsw tdi and been on hold little over 3 months so decided to email vw concil and this is what i heard back. Another post back in Oct 2017 mentions that buy back for salvage is on hold and it appears we are still on hold. Are rebuilt title (inspected and been on the road) considered same as salvage vehicles?
I’ve looked into your claim, and the Audit Concern has to do with the fact that your vehicle has a branded title. Volkswagen and the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee are waiting for a decision from the magistrate judge overseeing the settlement on a framework for adjudicating certain issues around settlement claims with salvage titles. The PSC and VW have been working for some time to set up a procedure to address issues relating to some of these claims, and the judge’s order should streamline handling of these claims when it comes down. Not all salvage title claims present any problems, but until the magistrate’s decision is final, most salvage title claims are temporarily on hold.
