Default PD engine for CJ5 + PTO generator

Hi all,
I lím thinking about transplanting a BEW engine
into my old CJ5 Jeep. I know this has been done before
but Iím wondering if itís possible to govern the engine to a set
speed and maintain it via closed loop control? Iím interested in
the possibility of using the jeepís rear PTO to drive a generator.
There are a few companies that sell electronic governors that
control throttle actuators but Iím not sure what signal(s) would
need to go to the engine ECM to maintain constant RPMís
with the throttle by wire system.
Thank you for any input,
