Have been noticing a growling and scraping noise while accelerating from a stop at low speed. Most noticable in first gear. Changed trans oil and filter 10k km ago. Nothing funny in the oil or filter. Almost sounds like the tire rubbing on something but it's not. Except for the noise the tranny works flawlessly.

Is this a sign of DSG failure?

wheel bearing possibly, it can be hard to detect exactly where the noise is coming from.

Not a wheel bearing. Jacked it up and it first gear at idle sounds like it's coming from about the middle of the transmission case at the bottom.
Doesn't do it all the time but probably 95% of the time. Can't hear it at highway speed but sure can under 30km/hr. Ran VCDS and don't have any tranny codes.

We had a similar noise in our 2012 gasser, it turned out to be a broken baffle in the rear muffler that created a resonance. It also sounded like it was coming from the gearbox area.
