ALH valve guides/valve stems??

so when im ordering valve guides ill order stems too yeah oily??
oh" can both be replaced with head still on???

Are you serious? You may want to get a shop manual, maybe even a basic book from the library on engine repair. The VAG SOHC engine is pretty textbook. And yes, you need to remove the head and completely tear it apart to replace guides. With the right tools, the stem seals can be replaced on the car but rarely are they needed.

What problem are you trying to "fix"?

Forgive me for being blunt, but I would have assumed someone that even knew how to type "valve guide" and "valve stem seal" would know the basic anatomy of an automotive cylinder head. To me this is akin to a dentist asking "Are your teeth located in your mouth?"

I suggest some time in your local library, perhaps reading some engine or machine shop type books.

Again I ask, what problem are you trying to solve?

oh yeah sorry never read ...
i have blue smoke on idling ,its using oil quarter L every 3k miles. compression test done thats fine. believe it or not i actually have a few automotive books
oily some V stems can be replaced without removing the head.not all engines ,BUT some thats why i asked about the ALH.

I would love to see any car engine you can replace valve guides on with the head installed, LOL.

You may have an OIL ring problem. Yes, you can have good compression and still have an oil ring problem. In actuality, your compression can be outstanding because the bad oil ring allows the compression rings to seal better. ;)

A quarter liter of oil in 3k miles is about normal. I this what you meant?

Blue smoke at idle with cold engine is often unburnt fuel. Blue smoke at idle with hot engine can be turbo seals leaking oil.

yeah thats what i mean.
any way of knowng its the turbo seals.... without doing some serious striping?

only blue smoke when idling hot or cold.
smoke clears after very short drive. but if left too idle after drive smoke comes back
