Really want to switch out my stock rims and tires for the summer with the rims on the new 2012 GLI and was wondering if anyone knew where you could get them from?

Or any pictures of rims they have put.

Hard to find, better off finding an aftermarket set. Check out vmr wheels, they are replica wheels of audi, bmw etc. And people will want alot for the GLI wheels just because they are GLI wheels!

Yeah they probably would cost alot. Just really like the look of them. Dont really like the stock ones from the 2011 TDI.

Me neither, my 16's are to small. But i might be moving to nyc so i might just go with 17's instead of 18's.

17 is the limit....18s are too tough for NYC driving....I run 16s cause I live on the hwy and travel too much to care about the cool factor....but 17s are perfect.

I just feel like the body to too big for the 16 inch wheel look, i do about 70 miles a day on the highway, the other 20 around town.

17's on a jetta look like mini wheels:) but you guys are right, ride quality on 18's will be rough.

I have 18's on right now, but i do mostly highway 401 driving which is sort of smooth!

I bought 17's for summer to replace the 16's and Mo is right, they look like mini's, 18's would be brutal on our quebec roads though.

I went 17 with a set of Akiros from an eos. They came with some really crappy pirelli p6 235-45/17 all season. Very noisy and rough. I just traded the tires in for a set of 225-50/17 low rolling resistence ecowing. So much better ride and much quiter. They fill the space nicely and solved my bottoming on the mud flaps over the stock 16s.

Real nice! I wish you had a pic with the new tires.
I'll try to take some tomorrow. It's not a dramatic change except in the ride. The 225-50's sit about 1/2" taller and about 1/2" narrower. They fit the 7.5" wheels better with less bulge. The revs per mile changed drastically from 819 down to about 804! I did some road tests with my watch and gps. My actual speed is 5% higher then shown. I expect he MPG tripstuff will be all out of whack, but hopefully I'll see an improvement in mileage when calculated with my next tank full! I think VCDS can handle making a change for this. I was going to play with it this weekend. With the stock suspension clearence is not a problem.

Why are you running a 50 side wall, with a good tire a 45 side wall is pretty smooth

Had nothing to do with the ride, except the P6 suck and I wanted something better.

Taller tire + Less revs per mile + less rotating mass + HiTQ TDI = Better mileage.

I like it, I really want 18's though, how much better mileage?
Don't know yet, just got them installed two days ago. According the "industry" I've seen things published like 3% and 4% improvements using LRR and fuel efficient tires. But here's some statistical numbers that I do know. Comparing the 235-45/17 Pirelli P6 to the 225-50/17 Khumo ecowing:
Rev per miles went from 821 down to 805.
Rotational mass was reduced 3lbs per wheel. P6's were 25lbs (one spec said 26.4lbs) and the Khumo's are 22lbs.

Compared to the stock 16" Hankook
Rev per miles went from 836 down to 805!
Rotational mass unchanged as the hankook and khumos weigh the same.

And as best I could find the stock 16" mambo wheels and the 17" akiros wheels also weigh the same. shown as 23-25lbs. But that's an assumption from searching the web.
