With all of the difficulties many are having with the buyback website(it is frustrating and it takes way longer than I think anybody thought). The actual process of the buyback went very well and very quickly. For those interested here's how it went.

I pulled into the dealership. Both VW claims specialist were waiting for me in front of the dealership. They politely introduced themselves we went into the office and had an overview of the process. I explained to him that I had a good grasp of it but appreciated his thoroughness. We went out to inspect the car. I removed a few pieces/parts but replaced anything aftermarket with its original part. The bulk of time was spent lamenting over the potential fate of my 2010 Jetta that still looked new still riding on Koni coils with full Rawtek exhaust.

The gentlemen asked me what my plans were for a new vehicle I showed them my new to me Cayenne diesel. They were happy I had not been scared away from diesels.

Total time start to finish: 22 minutes

As for EFT I had the correct amount in my checking account by 5am Tuesday morning. My buyback appt was on a Saturday.

The lead up with the website was terrible I think due to the lack of accurate timelines and information. The rest of the deal was fair fast and friendly.

Thanks for posting a positive experience. I think there are others we will never see on the forum, since characteristically the Internet tends to attract complaints and bad experiences like a road kill does turkey vultures.

Yes, there were difficulties for many on the way to the turn in. I myself had my accepted offer declined because they could not read the raised notary seal. Had to find another notary with an ink stamped seal. My resubmission was quickly approved.

But once you get your appointment, and get there, its all downhill. And I think EFT is the way to go, because if your settlement compensation is legitimately less than what was on the offer letter, you will have to be mailed a check. The EFT may require a leap of faith for some, but it worked perfectly.

I'd love to post a positive buyback experience but I'd have to have a buyback experience first and VW isn't interested in that happening.

I agree with you on this, the lead-up to the buyback at times was/is more than frustrating. However, my buyback was as smooth as could be. I showed up at about 9:30 for a 10:00 appointment. Buyback specialist got started on my buyback right away and everything was done before my appointment was actually supposed to start. She handed me my check and I then signed the check and handed it to the dealer as money down on my new Mazda CX-9.

My buyback experience was also very smooth. The only frustrating part was after first filling out the paperwork, I paid off my car. I had to call and speak to someone to adjust this. Waiting on hold for 2 plus hours was not fun.

The rest? Very fast and easy. The actual buyback? Extremely fast and sort of fun. The representative was polite and friendly. My appointment was Friday night at 6:30. Monday evening (last night) I got my email from chase for the ETF and they wanted my bank account number. Very smooth all the way around.

Hello Lexus! But I'll have another VW. I'm a little sad I didn't get a new Golf R, but I just wanted a different car for a while. He Lexus IS a fun car. Very fun in fact.
