OK, update:
My car has been through quite a bit lately, which is why it has taken me so long to post back. Long story short, I was rearended 2 months ago, and my car sat in the body shop for almost an entire month before it was finished. While it was in the shop, I joeymodded the headlights, and got the front grill as well as all the inserts painted gloss black.
rundown on the Joey Mod--I won't go into all the details, there are numerous detailed DIY's out there. Basically, if you don't do it right, you can ruin your headlights. Also, it is very easy to mess up the inside of the lens; if you do this mod, make sure to completely clean the inside surfaces with windex. I used satin black high heat barbeque/grill paint with a slight texture to it, and it was amazing. It looked perfect. I would only suggest doing this mod if you are very comfortable using tools and a spray can, and you should be prepared to spend money on new headlights if you mess up yours. I know I sound discouraging...don't get me wrong, I would suggest this mod for competent enthusiasts on a budget. But it is still very easy to get wrong.
Fast forward to about 3 weeks ago, I rearended somebody else (minor accident, nobody hurt, but it destroyed my bumper and grill). I just got my car back again this past Friday. I also upgraded my headlights to FK angel eyes with black housings. Soooo, here are the latest pictures. Basically the same look I was already going for, but quite a bit of time and history in the process. I know that the VW emblem in the front is missing...the body shop misplaced it, and had to order a second one and paint it. It will be black though when I get it.
