I'm going to backpedal on this and make my life simpler. I'm going to only use a push button on the dash to trigger the camera. Locating and patching into the existing backup wire is too much of a pain for little gain: I've never had a backup camera on an automobile before, so if I have to push a button to activate one then no big deal.
