2011 Golf Tdi

Hey guys!

Im looking to join the Tdi family but have a question for all you Tdi drivers out there, that drive a golf tdi...

Currently I drive about 275 miles a week. Of the 275 miles 240 are on the highway when i travel to work and a high percentage of the time i hit NO traffic at all and cruise all the way back and forth to work. what kind of mileage can i expect to get with the golf tdi. im just looking for a ball park number here, because as of now, I drive a 2008 honda accord 4 cyl. and I am only averaging 23 MPG.

How fast do you drive? I have 29 miles one way each day almost all highway and on summer blend I can see 48-49 combined running @ 60 mph. Step it up to 65 and my combined drops a bit down to 44-45. I think on the days I drive faster I accelerate harder. . I have the fatter JSW TDI. I'd expect the golf to match my mileage at the least.

Take a look at the graph below for constant highway cruising. Then adjust downwards slightly (maybe 10 - 15 %) for real world driving including DPF regeneration, cold starts, braking and acceleration, hills, a/c, and so forth. The manual curves are for the 2010+ manual not the 2009 manual.

i drive 123 miles a day to work on 91 freeway and average 51-53 miles/gal driving at 65-75 mph, this is early in the morning so no traffic at all. Coming back home driving east 91 my mileage goes down to 42-44 miles/gal due to heavy traffic.

@flying solo: i usually drive around 70 or so, ive slowed it down a bit to save some gas, cause before on the free way i used to drive around 75-77 mph.

@tdi54: what kind of car do you have? i drive on the 405 south and north and never hit traffic usually going to and from work (live in long beach-work in irvine), i usually coast all the way to and fro. and thats amazing that you get 51-53 mpg. i love that! i hope i get that!

I drive 50 miles to work mostly interstate. I lock in my cruise at 67mph and average 46 - 52mpg daily.

I have a 2011 Golf TDI Manual....I'm quite pleased.

Winter time I was getting a little lower mileage (40-46mpg), but now that the mercury is over 55°F I'm back to normal. 600-700miles per tank is quite normal.
