Can someone just briefly explain to me what Phase 1 and Phase 2 are? I don't want to read through 500 posts to figure it out. Is there a Phase 3 coming too?

I'm doing the BB soon and will likely be buying a 2015 CPO TDI.

Thank you.

Assuming you are talking about 2.0l 2015 . . .

Phase 1 is a software flash.

Phase 2 is mileage dependent - it may just be another flash and addition of a sensor, or it may be a DPF replacement as well. If you don't get the DPF initially, you get it later.

There is no Phase 3.

In order to be a CPO sale by VW, Phase 1 *must* be complete. Phase 2 is new enough, that it's a crapshoot if it will be in place on curremt CPO offerings or not, although I imagine moving forward, it will be a given also.

You won't regret getting a 2015. I sold my 2013 Passat back and got a CPO 2015 with 100k miles less along with all the warranties for, pretty much, sales tax.

With 100k on your 2015, what did you gain over what you had with a fix? How many miles were on your 2013. You know there are many other things that wear out in 100k besides the engine. You certainly did not buy a like new car if it had 100k on it.
I hope you meant 10k

I took it to mean the 2015 had "100k miles less" than the 2013.

So something like, 2013 had 125k miles, 2015 had 25k miles. Hand calculated.

Not only that, but they don't sell CPOs with 125k miles.

I'm looking to get a 2015 CPO Jetta or Passat with <30k miles, which would be 60k less than my current 2013. And yes, fresh warranty too. And I figure that I'll be getting about $6,000 change on the deal.

This Emissions scandal is like winning the Lottery. Don't understand why some guys are complaining about it.
