Emissions Workshop Light

I have a 2005.5 1.9 Jetta TDI. 99,000 mi. 5 spd manual trans. Emissions Workshop light came on. Fault code is P0101. replace the maf sensor, light went out then came back on a couple miles down the road. Found a vacuum leak in hose, replaced it. Light went out then back on. Now its slow to start, has lost about 4mpg and boggs down in first gear. it will surge and catchup once in 2nd gear. The fault code has remained the same every time I check it. Any suggestions?

I'm having a very similar issue. Replaced maf but still going into limp mode.
Bogging down in first gear, feels like uneven acceleration or boost.

My BEW acted like that when the EGR valve was not closing completely.
