96 Passat with 100K miles....

Found one and he is asking 6K in Florida.
Seems to run well, he has receipts for timing belt change, and no rust.

Is this a decent deal? I'm close to pulling the trigger on this, but am kind of a newb when it comes to the "special" problems these cars have.

Be very weary of that odometer reading, the clusters are a known problem with this model, and the 96s especially.

yeah i own a 96, great car, but as compu said be very careful. Mine has 264k on it.

How do you plan on documenting/verifying the mileage CARFAX? State inspection reports? Written service history? Owner's verbal statements
