Is the 2 year VW warranty extension (warranty wrap?) worth the extra $2000?

Rochester VW is offering a VW factory warranty extension (they call it a "wrap" or something...) that is in addition to the CPO 2 year/unlimited warranty, they say it brings the warranty up to 4 years/150,000 miles, and it's $2000 extra

normally I avoid additional "extended warranties" as most of the companies are fly-by-night scams that look for *any* reason to decline coverage, but this warranty extension is supposedly from VW itself and good at all VW dealers nationwide

my gut instinct is to say no and just stick the $2000 in savings for a car repair emergency fund...

i'm trying to get out as cheaply as possible, the car is $9900, the doc fees are $360, then there's state registration, adding another $2000 on top of that does not seem logical...

what's the consensus here?

I would say no. What we have are good enough because it is 10 years ans 120k miles for first gen diesel that is golf/JSW/Jetta from 2009-14. 2015’s gets 120k/11 years plus bumper to bumper unlimited miles for 2 years. Save your $2k in your wallet.

is the 10/120 warranty a powertrain warranty? is that addition to the 2/Unlimited B2B?

if so, the TDI's are the best sleeper value on the market :D
Yes, it is in addition to the 2 year B2B. It covers the fuel system too, so the dreaded HPFP failure would be covered under the powertrain as well!

If this was an Audi or a Touareg then I think I'd buy it, but not for a Golf. It would be cool to be driving an 11 year old car in 2023 with a bumper to bumper warranty but $2000 pays for a lot of repairs on a Golf and you have the long powertrain warranty covering the most expensive stuff.
