Long time no post... my wagon has been running great with 377k kms. Easily the best vehicle I’ve ever owned, and thanks to this forum I’ve been able to take care of the majority of maintenance.

Quick question for Canadian folks: anybody use the VW compatible antifreeze from Can Tire? I’m far away from a dealer, just checking if anybody has issues or says ‘don’t go near it’.. lol

Thx!

Most of us prefer the Pentosin stuff. Some better parts stores do carry it.

Sounds like it (this stuff) should be OK:
* OEM Premixed Anti-Freeze/Coolant is designed for use in specific vehicle-makes
* Recommended for Audi, Volkswagen and Porsche vehicles
* Low silicate OAT formulation
* Recommended change interval: Up to 250,000 km or 5 years service protection
* 50/50 premixed, ready-to-use anti-freeze/coolant

Yes this is what I was looking at. Any Canadians have experience with it?

I saw the Canadian Tire stuff the last time I needed some, but decided to check with VW dealer on what they had.

Give your dealer a call and ask what they charge for the real stuff; last jug I bought (3.78L) was around $25CAD for undiluted - so almost 8L of "pre-mix"). Even with working on lots of other people's cars, and my three VWs, that's gonna last me a few years.

I would run it for sure, my next VW dealer is 5h away vs 45min for a Canadian Tire. [emoji6]

I have been running it for years. No issues.

This thread made me think of that anti slip spray antifreeze stuff that GM had on a car back in yeolden 60s or so.
