Saw the same thing in Alameda, Hayward, and Oakland! D2 finally equal or less than RUG!

Something I thought about... weak euro economy = less demand for D2, more supply here since we export D2. If we export less and have more here, would D2 prices drop from greater supply?
California is more affected by the economies of East Asia and South Asia, and not so much by what is happening in Europe.

Crude oil prices seem to be weakening because an interruption of Persian Gulf oil supplies is increasingly unlikely. Iran is still trying to sell oil, working out barter arrangements because of banking controls, but every week more of Iran's oil production is going into storage on tankers; the world is finding ways to get along without Iran's oil, but Iran is running out of money and may have to change its policies regarding war and nuclear weapons.

Great thread. Many may know this but there is an app called gas buddy. It is great. You can get best prices on gas around you or search other cities. Can also go to their website. Really accurate too ( user updates). But a caution I almost went to one place but called first to verify diesel per gal and they laughed and said they didn't have diesel so... ( this is my only oh boy story with the app)

So. Cal. at Pala Casino north of San Diego it's 4.13 today...but the New Beetle would have only taken 2 gallons so I decided it wasn't worth the time...

June RBOB gasoline and June heating oil futures are both down about 35 cents in the last three weeks. I think gasoline at the pump started down sooner than diesel prices, but diesel seems to be coming down just about everywhere now.

AAA says RUG is down 18 cents from a month ago, but diesel down only 12 cents. But eventually diesel pump prices must fall in line.

The Seaway Pipeline reversal is supposed to start this week. US refineries are running at a relatively high rate of utilization. Brent crude's premium over WTI has widened (not sure why). Not sure how much Iranian oil is in floating storage, but it's enough to keep a lid on any potential price increases.

While I have only filled my B4V 2 times this year (yes, it has been down for a while). Gas prices have soared in San Diego over the last week or so.

On Thursday, May 10, I filled up at Costco in Santee for $4.03/gallon on Wednesday, May 16 I filled up at Costco in Poway for $4.19 per gallon.

At the same time, diesel prices were relatively unchanged according to Gasbuddy. Good news is that off line plants are back on line and Gas Prices are dropping.

Locally, gas prices are down at least 45¢ from a month ago. Is this that pipeline reversal having an immediate effect? Diesel is only down about 4¢ in that time as far as I can tell.

Last month it was $3.799 for RUG and $3.99 for D2 locally; now it's $3.329 for RUG and $3.899 for D2. Diesel is coming down, but at a glacial pace.

Something I find unusual about this is normally my town (Foley) has higher prices than the beach resort towns, by up to 10¢ for all grades. But the reversal has hit hardest here for petrol and now we're cheaper than the beaches. This weekend is the Hangout Music Fest, a sellout with 35,000 attendees… you'd think everyone would stay high to nail the tourists, but even the beaches have dropped prices this week.

Two things I just learned:
The Seaway Pipeline reversal is ready, and the first oil will start flowing this weekend from Cushing to the Texas Gulf Coast.

But, it will only be 150,000 barrels a day to start, well below the maximum capacity of 400,000 barrels.

I think more oil will continue to flow toward Cushing from North Dakota and Canada than Seaway will draw off. So do not expect the record inventory levels at Cushing to suddenly draw down.

Tom, it's all pretty complicated and I have no idea what's happening with local market conditions in Alabama or anywhere else for that matter. It's all I can do to keep up with the prices in Minnesota and to keep my own fuel tank filled with fuel that is as cheap as I can find it. For a while, I was trying to guess which chains had the best fuel, but I seem to get about the same fuel mileage from all of them. All diesel in Minnesota is B05 between November and March, and B10 from April to October -- so plenty of lubricity without having to add anything extra.

Last weekend, I was up in the Twin Cities area and filled up at Holiday just before heading home. Anyhow, the station I was at had a B20 sticker on the pump. I don't know if it actually was B20, but my car seemed to like it. :D

Oh, the price on it was $3.990, not $3.999.

Hey Ray and the rest of the OK. bunch, we should have a gtg run over to Cushing so we could just stand around and look at the pipes, and ooh and ahhh :)...

Bunch of Conoco stations just dropped to 3.67 over here yesterday, could be lower this morning. Funny, cheaper on the east side of town, too...west side discrimination!!

Oh I wasn't trying to get an analysis of local market conditions, but I have noticed similar trends in the rest of the state and the few parts of Florida and Mississippi I keep tabs on, so I thought it might be due to the impending pipeline reversal.

Wow that is pretty low for Southern California. After I saw your post I looked up my local stations on gas buddy and saw that my shell station in L. A. was at 4.19/ gallon. Prices dropped since yesterday. I'll be filling up next week and with my Ralph's card, I'll be paying $4.09/ gallon. Hope to see diesel under $4.00/gallon soon again in Los Angeles.

Wilmington NC: D2 3.97, RUG 3.49, Farm fuel 3.72. We don't get fuel through the pipelines here, it comes from a tanker ship. So that's why prices are so slow to drop??? They sure rise quick, though!! Waiting for the drop to make a bulk buy. My tanks are getting low!!
