Maybe I get a better response in this section. Can someone please tell me the part No. for the VW synthetic gear oil, that one that everyone keeps saying is so good.
Would this part no. be the same for VW in USA and Europe? Could it be this one
G052 726 A2 Part #
G052 726 02 Material #

Thanks

amgad, they list the fluid as

G50 SAE 75W-90 synthetic oil

2.0L or 2.1qts.

that information is from their fluid capaccity chart printed in 2000.

amgad, I have heard the parts guys refer to it as G50. That's it.

You will know you have the real thing when you pay for it. It is very expesive.

Since you are not in America, maybe it does carry a different name??

Listing from European site calls it the same thing: L128 VW G 50 (005 000) EXTRA GETRIEBEOEL 75W90 GL5 (INCL.GL3+GL4)

I've just double checked with the VW parts guy and he told me that the
VW P/N: G052 911A2 is the more expensive type of gear oil (3 time more than the regular stuff P/N G052 726 A2 Part ) so it must be this one.

Il' order it next month as see if there is any improvement in the gear selection, especially second gear.

Quiz question,

if I were to have any problems inside the gearbox (eg synchros or anything else) that would normally be causing the famous 2nd gear cruch) would using a synthetic make it better or worse.

Thanks for your help
