Hey guys, wanted ti hear some stories. I have a very healthy ALH in my 2000 2dr TDI but the body is old and tired. One of my rear strut mounts ripped out, paint is in awful shape, bad dents, and the undercarriage looks like hellen keller choose the jacking points.

I have the chance to pick up a beautiful 2000 VR6 with a bad motor but great body and all the options i want.

My car is a base. No sunroof, manual windows, manual mirrors, non heated seats.

This VR6 has all the goodies. Power windows, heated seats, power mirrors, Climatronic, sunroof, etc. Literally every option.

What would it take to swap my drivetrain into the VR6? Shouldnt be too bad considering i have a full car right? Would i just need the engine wiring harness, ecu, motor/trans, fuel system, and gauge cluster?

i read a thread about a guy swapping an alh into a wagon but he didnt have a donor car. He made it seem awful.

he pulled the entire wiring harness from the car. Is that really involved? Would i have to figure out how to splice all the power options?
