I have a 2005 TDI golf 4-door with power windows.

I replaced the comfort control module with a used one because I was having some issues with lights staying on. The serial number matched the previous one.

I reprogrammed the fobs using VCDS. Now the trunk unlocks when i unlock the doors, doesn't lock when i lock the doors, the trunk buttons now locks the trunk.

I haven't been able to find anything to change in the VCDS software. I'm not able to access Central Locking or Central Electric in the software I'm not sure if I should be able to access those, or if I modify the settings through the CCM. Haven't been able to access any long code sections in the software. Anyway here's a couple screengrabs I found an error when I scanned the car which may be related. Much appreciated if anyone has any ideas. Anyone know of a way to format a CCM, maybe start fresh?

On a mk4 Golf with power windows, there is no Central Locking. And your car won't have Central Electronics as well.

VAG part number 1C0-959-799-C has a hidden bit of the part number called "color code". There are right at 100 different color codes for this VAG number. You can't just random mix and match color code modules. Now to be honest, while there are officially 100 different color codes, as best I can tell, for the North American market maybe less than 10 versions were used. These color codes will vary for something as simple as 2 door VS 4 door.

Please post a full Auto-Scan for review.

Thanks for getting back to me. I don’t have the scanner on hand but I will post the full report from a scan as soon as I get a chance.

From a very superficial knowledge of the issue, my best guess would be to re-install your old CCM as there was likely nothing wrong with it.
I'm betting the reason your interior lights stayed on was a different issue such as a faulty sensor or similar

The part number has to match exactly, including the letter suffix. And the second image in your photo album indicates to me the problem you have is with the door lock module, not the comfort module. But that's a bit of a guess.

There's a relay on the board that makes the turn signals blink when you lock the car. It was definitely sticky cause when the lights got stuck on I can tap on the CCM it and it goes off. Here's a photo someone else posted of the relay.

If the new CCM is not going to work I may just take transfer the relay from the replacement to my old board.

The color codes is matching up. As per partlink24.com, the CCM calls for color code 8C, but you've got 09 in there.
The three examples I find online of other CCMs with color code of 09, are from Passats.... and as I recall Passats use a different frequency remote... so yeah, ain't gonna work.

well damn, thanks a lot for looking into that. I'll look into replacing just the relay, or track down a different one.

As has been mentioned, there are several different versions of that 1C0 959 799 C module that has different software depending on what body style it's going in. The remote should still pair just fine, but the trunk/hatch operation logic varies greatly depending on what bodystyle car it's programmed for.

There's 3 different variations for our market. Sedan, wagon and Golf hatch. The Beetles tend to be setup like a 2 door sedan, for the record. The trunk popper works just the same between those two.

The wagons have a microswitch you hit to pop open the hatch, not a physical connection between that button and the latch.

The Golf's have a physical handle with a mechanical connection to the latch, but there is an electronic lock for it. So, while all those body styles use the same part number module (from 2002 model year and newer anyway...), there is a large variance on trunk/hatch operation.

It is possible to use the same physical module and have the correct software flashed to it, but there are few people out there capable of doing so.

So, it looks like the part numbers you need are going to be either 1C0959799C 01Q or 1C0959799C 08C for the 4 door Golf.

The soft coding on your VCDS scan indicates it might have the software for a Passat sedan with power folding mirrors (which would also include the logic for the auto dipping passenger side mirror when in reverse). But for that to work fully also requires having the power folding mirrors, different front window motors as well as power memory seat module, as that contains the software and processing for the reverse signal and the memory positions of the mirrors.

So, definitely be on the look out for one of the two part numbers with color codes I indicated above to get the correct software for the Golf hatch trunk logic.

It also appears the difference between the two numbers I suggested would work for your car is if it has the steering wheel controls for the radio or not. That is a separate module, but apparently since that info travels on the convenience data bus, the CCM has something to do with it, too.

The 01Q is for the vehicle with the multifunction wheel.
The 08C is without.

I'm sure having the 01Q in a car that doesn't have the multifunction wheel will be fine, but if you use an 08C module in a car that does have the multifunction wheel, there's a possibility the radio controls on the wheel may no longer work.

Thanks again for all the feedback.

I yanked the good relay out of another CCM and I replaced the one on my original board. So far everything is working properly.

Tyco V23072 was sticking on mine leaving the front and back turn signals on after locking.
