head gasket thickness

I'm starting to put together the list of items needed to get my B4 back on the road, and realize that I have no idea how thick the gasket is.

How many holes does this have, for purposes of thickness?

It's a little hard to see in the photo but it looks like it's a 1 hole. The tab by cylinder 3 that sticks out the left side of the engine (timing belt on the front) has one, two, or three holes. I see one in this photo, although I may be missing one. The majority of cars have 2 hole gaskets, but there are 1s and 3s out there.

If at all possible it's a really good idea to measure your piston protrusion from scratch...otherwise you are at the mercy of the guy that did it last.

I looked at the Bentry's example and it appeared that the one hole seen on mine is for another purpose.

I will try to scratch the area where the hols should be to see if they Srebrenica, somehow, filled in with grime.
