Vw Caddy 1.9 Hard to start !

Hi guys wondering if anyone can help. I have a 2007 Vw Caddy 1.9 tdi bls engine code and in the mornings it starts for a second then stops , then it just turns over and over until it finally starts , then for the rest of the day it’s fine and runs like a dream !! Any ideas would be most appreciated . Thank you

Two thoughts.
First, immobilizer acts that way, runs for a few seconds and then it shuts down.
Second you're losing prime between the filter and the pump. There's enough fuel to start then air is to great and it has to prime itself.

I would have your battery tested to make sure it is at appropriate capacity. I have no idea what you have in England, but in the US, you can pull the battery and take it to an auto parts store and have it load tested for free. If the battery is low, it could also be an alternator issue. You will need more juice from the battery for a cold start than a warm start.
