Is the throttle position sensor cleanable by removing the screws on the side panel? Has this ever been tried? Only because a replacement is a huge chunk of change and times are lean these days.

- 98 Jetta TDI AHU 1.9L (944 TDI swap in progress) I moved so now i got nothing but an AHU in a garage on a pallet.
If it ain't working, no harm in trying! Right?
If you do, use electrical contact cleaner. It's just a potentiometer.

Thanks M98. Right now it is intermittent, so I am not going to mess with it, but with 290k miles it has lived a long predictable life. I am a bit concerned about buying an electrical part on ebay.

I don't have it in front of me, but I believe is was P0221 throttle position sensor/ a lot of other stuff.
Yesterday it happened over and over again, but today it did not return.
