Model year differences?

Hello,

We presently own a 2001 Jetta TDI and have had it since new. With the exception of some electrical glitches and the unusual event of throwing a rod, it has been a very reliable vehicle where we are contemplating adding another to the fleet. Could somebody here direct me to threads relating to the differences between model years and the good/bad of these changes?
