Will Dealer/vw do OLD recalls?

My brm just threw the airbag fault:
01217 side airbag igniter, driver N199 ... Intermittent

Cleared it with vcds; returned 15 mins into next drive

Recall/service action 97u3/t3 stated that dealer would fix free until ~ jan '13 so obviously quite old.

Before I waste time talking to the dealer I wanted to check whether they tend to do these old service actions.

Sounds like a relatively easy fix but the diy's I could find no longer had pics. If anyone has a link to the actual process with pics it would be appreciated.

At least the dealer I spoke with was unwilling to perform an old service action such as this, recalls only.
