It would be good to know that there's another TDI specialist on Florida's Gulf Coast. But MapQuest shows Pine Island north of Tampa, so isn't Fort Meyers an unnecessarily long trip. Keith Scarborough, tdiclub username LWB053, is in Tampa.sccasper said:Volkswerksttat in Fort Myers, florida. I`m going to take a chance with them. They specialize in diesel Audi and Volkswagons only. They state they do everything from oilchange to rebuild.. They have all the computer equipment and even a room they say is electrostatic free for performnce chipping ecu`s.
Pine Island is right between Sanibel Island and Cape Coral. I live in the little Island town of Bokeelia. The VW place in Fort Myers is about a 15-20 min. drive depending on seasonal traffic. I was really looking forward to having the help of Keith in Tampa. I figured I would like to check the quality of this place out for further future work. I don`t want to make arrangements to get my car to Tampa anytime I need some TDI work.TornadoRed said:It would be good to know that there's another TDI specialist on Florida's Gulf Coast. As I see no one is listed for the East Coast of Florida, let alone the Southeast Coast of FL, I'll toss my name into the hat. I've done TB's, intake cleaning, tranny swaps, clutches, turbos, IP, injectors, upgrades,.....TornadoRed said:It would be good to know that there's another TDI specialist on Florida's Gulf Coast. Actually, with all the extra stuff that was done, that price is not really out of line. I hope they didn't use the mark-and-pray method.knepper123 said:I went to BRU Automotive at 5625 El Cajon Blvd. ph 6192879716
They did an excellent job at a good price (for San Diego). I had the timing belt, tensioner, pulleys, water pump, serpentine belt, oil, oil/air/fuel/cabin filters, and the coolant temp sender replaced for a total of $1082. That may seem like a lot, but many other places are $1400+ out here for that stuff.
Ditto for me... except I'm not in FL... TX needs another guru for Dallas alone. Is there a questionnaire?KROUT said:How do I get my name on the trusted mechanics list. I am in Jax fl.
There are some people in South Dakota that know enough to their own repairs without going to the dealer.farmertdi said:Nebraska and South Dakota are absent on this list. Any suggestions? PS.. There are a few people still out here!
Nope, not that know their salt anyway. Either of us and you'll do just fine.perron said:MiksTDI from Illinois and jasonTDI from Madison Wis.
Are those the closest TDI Mechanics to me or is there more?
This forum does not have anything under Illinois.
I live right off highway 88 by Dekalb, IL (NIU). is there any mechanics closer?
Keith just did the complete timing belt job/intake clean on my Golf yesterday, and it couldn't have been better.TornadoRed said:It would be good to know that there's another TDI specialist on Florida's Gulf Coast.
