2004 Passat - I have owned the car since new. Flew to a dealership on the coast of N.C. and drove it home to Chicago. Car now has 176,000 miles and runs very well. Both a deer and a texter kissed the car, but nothing that couldn't be repaired by replacing sheet metal. I don't drive it when there is salt on the street, which has spared the undercarriage. Hope I can get another 12 years and 176,000 miles out of her.

Way to go, keep it out of the Winter road chemicals if you can. Car guys here in NE Ohio are saying the stuff used on the roads is worse than salt & eats thru the corrosive barriers put on the cars at the factory.

I am driving year round, wash often in a heated garage, radiant floor heat, & use a small electric pressure washer. It helps! Also oil the car myself!

Great news on the number of miles you're getting on your TDI's. I will be doing the same, by Summer for sure!

Thanks,
Dave

Is 500K expected out of these cars usually? Do Jetta's & Golf's do better than Beetles?

Thanks,
Dave

248K on mine, how long does the original clutch last?

206500 miles, Turbo--user caused incident-- and the clutch changed, but still on the original brake pads. Great car to own/drive.
