It's time for me to part with my beloved 2001 TDI Beetle.
The passenger door window carrier failed 4 years ago, and it's been parked in a half-finished garage since. I had a local guru lined up to fix it, but it coincided with a divorce and multiple trips to the Philippines and one thing led to another and .... I did run it once the next winter after adding a few gallons of winter fuel to it.
Now with 3 cars and only 2 drivers, it needs a new home.
The good parts:
Added 9/4: A couple more problems I remembered:
If you are interested, please leave a PM here. I will try to check them daily.
Added 9/4: Generally got 51 MPG on the highway. If I held the vent open & overfilled the tank, I could drive all the way to visit my mother in Wood River, IL (east metro St. Louis, and probably back up into Iowa. I usually chickened out & refueled in Hannibal on the way north. That's 693 miles plus usually a couple local trips in the Wood River area.

The good parts:
- Red
- 14x,000 miles
- 1000 watt FrostHeater, melts the snow off the hood overnight
- About 25K miles left on 100K mile belt, new water pump at 65K just to be safe when I had the 100K mile kit installed
- Needs at least 3 glow plugs (I never replaced them because the FrostHeater warmed it up enough, but if you can't drive every 3-4 hours when it's not plugged in, you will need the glow plugs).
- Air bag light is on, has been on for years
- Needs 1 tire, maybe 2
- Passenger door window carrier needs replacement
- No 100% working key FOBS (one works but key is broken, other doesn't work but key is intact )
- Some hail damage on roof
- Cracked windshield, but I should be able to get that replaced free
Added 9/4: A couple more problems I remembered:
- The sun roof has a broken plastic part, can't open & close it automatically.
- Antenna broke & fell off.
- 4 steel rims with oversize 225-60QR Blizzaks (lots of tread but old, only suitable for in-town driving), and one or two hub cabs that survived the destruction of my previous garage
- Extra headlamp assembly
- Minnesota license plates BIODSL, I will let them go with the car
