How to prevent fluid leakage while changing clutch?

I am getting ready to pull the gearbox to replace the clutch and wondering if there are any tricks to minimize hydraulic fluid leakage after disconnecting the clutch line.

Open bleeder valve with tube attached into bottle and press the clutch?

OK, so drain the actuator of fluid before disconnecting? It sounds to simple ;-)

98 Jetta TDI AHU 1.9L (944 TDI swap in progress) I moved so now i got nothing but an AHU in a garage on a pallet.
why even disconnect it in the first place but if you insist on doing so

foam ear plug, a rubber band and a baggy
rub the ear plug to a tight point, shove it into the line, put baggy over the line, secure with rubber band

Remove the two screws holding the slave cylinder to the trans and bungie it out of the way.

I just did a clutch change two weeks ago and you really don't need to disconnect the clutch line. I just removed the slave cylinder from the trans and zip tied it up and closer to the firewall. Be careful not to bend the metal portion of the clutch line.

I bolt a bracket across the end of the slave to prevent it from extending (accidentally pressing the pedal during maintenance). I'm not sure if I have a picture of it, but I've used it during troubleshooting to prove the hydraulic portion is working perfectly. I can press as hard as I want on the pedal and it's rock hard.

Not the greatest, but if you can zoom in on this pic, the bracket and slave are just to the right of the PB blaster can.

I duct tape it and maybe put a hose clamp around it to push against if that's needed.
Don't break the line unless there's no other choice. Only bleed at the end and when you flush the brakes.
