Just hit 300,000 miles on the beetle and its still going strong! What maintenance items should I be thinking about at this milage? I think I read a long time ago that the oil pump doesnt last much longer than 300? Still has original clutch, turbo, and intake has never been cleaned but its running good so I see no need to mess with it.

I think the oil pump is chain driven, but I don't see a need to replace it if you always use the correct oil.

Maybe take a gander inside that intake just in case? Im guessing suspension stuff has been taken care of already? Maybe you can change your power steering fluid if you havent.

If you can, tell us why you drive so much? Is it all highway?

All the front end except springs and sway bar bushings have been done within the last 100k. As I peer inside the intake pipe theres little gunk build up, I drive it 70-75mph so I think thats the key.... its about 80% highway, now i'm only driving 2500 miles/week. Hartford-washington DC 3 times a week.
