I need some help finding a wire or trigger that activates when the parking/headlights are turned on. Preferably, in the center console or near by, such as the A/C controls...

It needs to be 12VDC for a new switch I've installed from DoubleApex...

Thanks!

Forgive my ignorance, but how do you trace the backlighting circuit for the A/C controls from the fuse block??
Are you saying VW has a separate circuit just for the backlighting???

Don't have fuse chart in front of me but find the hot from the brake switch perhaps and run a wire from there to center console.

I can't remember for sure, but I'm 90% sure there's a fuse that is hot when the light switch is on. I'd just go through it with a test light/multimeter and check.
