2.93 to 3.09 at the stations I drove by today. (3.09 is probably not the highest area diesel price since gas is currently 3.19 and some stations refuse to sell diesel for less than gas)

$2.89 at Royal Farms, Cheswold DE.

$3.05 for B100 at Hillside Service Station in Centreville, MD.

$2.48 for offroad D2 in Centreville (hmmmmm - tempting).

Just paid $3.05 at Fairfax Circle Sunoco tonight and they are usually one of the cheaper stations in No.VA.

__. Up a good bit to $2.68 -- $2.75 in rural southeastern NC. I was in the Raleigh today and saw numbers about 10 -12 cents above that.

I'm in Pinehurst, NC, B20 is $2.88 and regular diesel is $2.98. I'm wondering if the $2.68 from April is still that low. SC and GA have some good prices at their truck stops.

Filled up yesterday at 2.899 at the Cash Only Free State in Wheaton, Md.

Prices are creeping up slowly after being stagnant for a while. :( I still have yet to pay more than 2.999, but I think that time is coming.

3.179 for D2...makes me glad I go tthe TDI with Premium being 3.259 and getting "only" 29mpg in the GLI vs. 46mpg in the TDI. Cheaper fuel and more MPG rocks! But paying this much for fuel does suck.

Latest drive around town has no discount diesel at 2.86 a gallon.

RUG is running $2.75

Even the grocery store where diesel is less than the other places is at 2.85. I get a 10c discount on either one, so diesel for all purposes is now 10c a gallons higher than RUG. No idea why.

Can that discount be used in conjunction with a credit card? Both Discover and Citi have gas cards that give you 5% cash back on fuel purchases. At $2.85/gal, that makes it $2.70/gal effectivly.

So far I've racked up $35 with my Discover gas card. (yes, that's $700 in fuel so far this year)

don't forget the 5% only applies to the first $1500, then drops substantially. I think it goes down to 1.5%. I've got one too (Discover), and every little bit helps.

Bob, $700 in fuel this year? We go through $700 - $800 fuel a month. Yes the ford does take a little more, but at least work pays for it :) We are on the 5% from BP program so it really does make a differeance.

In fact the situation has gotten worse in the past 5 years than it was in all the history of the US combined. If you want a real eye-opener on the topic just read this:

Lowest in Phoenix area: $2.75 - Flying J, I-10 & 67th Ave AND QuikTrip, I-10 & 51st Ave.
Highest in Phoenix area: $3.29 - Chevron, 49th St & Broadway

I have no idea what those people at Chevron are smoking. Their prices have been way above the norm for quite a while now...as far as I know, there are no special circumstances like early ULSD or anything.

First $1200 for my card (yours may have a different agreement).

CitiBank maxes out its cash back at $300/yr..so if used for fuel alone, that's $6,000 in fuel/yr.

Hm, by my calculations I'm paying $6.89 a gallon...
(My calculations are, incidentially - 1 US gallon = 3.7854118 litres, 96.9 pence per litre, £1 = $1.8485.)
Stop moaning :)

And how much of that is taxes?

If we remove our road tax and you remove your taxes, it should be pretty close to the same.

Going up in St Louis

in the last couple weeks, diesel has gone from $2.79 to $3.09.

Why is it that diesel is going up? Do we depend at all on the oil from the Middle East?

Prices in St Louis may be the result of a local problem, the power outage that cut power to your local refinery.

Here in SoCal, prices have been very stable since about the middle of June. Just a few cents up, a few cents down.

Edit: I've been to the AAA website, and I guess the stable prices in California are not typical for the rest of the country.

Crude is a couple dollars a barrel higher than last month, so that partly explains the rise in diesel.

But something else comes to mind -- it's very close to the fall harvest season in the Midwest, and farmers will need lots and lots of diesel fuel. If they're filling their tanks now, that would explain a bigger jump in the Midwest than in the rest of the country.
