EDIT: note, non-tdi vehicles will not be included in the graph until the end of the month. this is TDIClub afterall

I agree that this is a 'TDIClub afterall' and normally would never have posted a non-TDI vehicle fuel mileage.

Current plans are to purchase 2008 Jetta CDI when available.

I do, however, recall an earlier post (3 months +/-) from someone hosting the Monthly MPG Contest stating that it was nice to see vehicles other than TDI's post mileage as a comparison.

Based on the above statement I included several MPG posts with a non-TDI vehicle.

Now I realize how exclusive the TDI club is and will refrain from posting future MPG entries of non-TDI powered vehicles.

Thanks for opening my eyes.

I also was disappointed to see that quote and will probably not participate in the future, at least with the Insight, but might with the TDI. I know this is a TDI sight but like flgolfer29 said non TDIs were incouraged to participate. I do feel a "LITTLE" bad for entering the Insight as it is sort of like bringing a gun to a pillow fight. To be honest, I can't see why anyone would participate in a "Contest" unless they thought they had a good chance to win it. Personally I like the idea of a Mileage Data Base better then a contest as it encourages everyone to participate, not just the few hypermilers that might actually have a chance of winning it. I will bow out with the Insight so that the bar can be lowered.....Louis

Love the fight picking!... I'll retort by stating my unequivocal belief that hypermilers simply expoit a quirk in the hybrid's mpg display, sort of similar to TDI drivers believing the rediculously optimistic cluster gauge.

And I look at this as more of a database too (note that my TDI has the proverbial snowball's chance to win). One thing that did surprise me - how much I AM riding the motorcycle when it's nice - although it was a bit chilly last night riding home in 60 degrees. I usually quit that at around 50.

Either this was bad fuel or I pumped B100. I had to change the fuel filter too.

Oh, I post - just to be able to give a counterpoint for when a newby comes in all hot and bothered about his "poor" MPG. Also gives the not-so-hot reader a chance to read some history about what to expect for different cars / drivers / driving situations.

I wonder what the average MPG is for America - 12 -15 - 22. I have averaged just over 35 mpg since 1979. If Amercica had done this or just 15% of us. Fuel would still be less than 2 per gal.

i appologize to everyone for giving the wrong idea. i encourage everyone to enter any type of personal transportation vechicle they'd like. i posted the previous graph just as i was leaving town to drive down to Austin for the weekend and didn't spend the time to sort out the TDI's from non-TDIs.

again, i didn't mean to discourage anyone and i look forward to posting the results from the insight and other efficient (or horribly inefficient ;)) vehicles in the future.

Whoa, the same MPG diff for our TDIs holds true in the truck world too. Diesels get 50% better MPG.

11 MPG vs. 16 to 18 MPG for trucks.. 30 MPG vs. 45 to 50 MPG for cars.

She needs gears. with my 35's I'm out of my powerband on the hwy by 200 rpms. Before 60mph was 1800rpms. Now it's 1600rpms. I need 4.56's instead of the oem 4.10's I have now.

So is your TDI replacing the hemi or the olds?
The wife's Old's.

The Dodge CTD's are getting 2-3 mpg more with the same lift and tire combo. My 2500 is like 7500lbs and the CTD's are 8300lbs ruffly.
