Indianapolis TDI'ers UNITE!

Would a GTG June 7th or 8th work for everyone?

I would like to throw out to the Indianapolis/central Indiana the idea of creating a Central Indiana/Indianapolis Group.

My modest proposal would allow for us to:
*share our knowledge and expertise
*pool resources
*general socializing
*getting away from spouse for short period of time

Well, what do you think?

WOW! It is depressing! I'm only (back) in Indy about once
per month, otherwise, I'd sign up in a heartbeat.

Since Greg has stopped doing TDI work, finding another TDI
specialist has been tough.

Best of luck getting TDI'ers together.

thanks for the sympathy responses guys!

HPC there's a TDI specialist just south of Greenwood Jeff's Volkswagen Repair
10463 N Kitchen Rd
Mooresville, IN 46158
(317) 834-6424

Went to see him when my CEL came on and he VAG-COM'd it for free.

Indy is only a few hours form Central Ohio where we have a strong group of people. I bet if you wanted to post a gtg you could get a few of us out there to you :)

We need an Illiana GTG, to pull folks from near the IL/IN border.

I'm planning to do one after the garage is built - maybe make it a yearly event.
When will it be finished?

It's not even started yet - still in design stage! Knowing T_C he will make forward progress on actual construction this year but his employer may run a little interference if there is much overtime to put in.

I'm going to try and do most of the work myself to keep the costs down, and I know that at the very least I will have to contract to have the posts/trusses installed, and the concrete poured/finished. But, at the very minimum I will have the strucure enclosed for the winter.

So I know I haven't posted on these boards in a while, but this Indy thread really is depressing.
Veg- I'll happily GTG anytime! You could say that we've had our inaugural meeting, though I don't know if I would count it as a GTG. More of a meet and greet!
Convert- You know I'll help you build it because "if you build it, they (the TDI's) will come!" Let me know if I can help you with anything!

Well, Thanks a lot Robert! You jinxed me!!!:( I just found out yesterday afternoon that there is a good possibility of mandatory overtime for April, May and at the least June.....

DCELL: Do you know of anybody that is experienced in setting posts and trusses? I think I can source a crane locally, and probably will have a backhoe by then, if not I'll rent one. I'd like to start at least getting the ground prepped as soon as all the frost leaves and the road weight restrictions are lifted.

Sure, dump the blame on me! Well, you can have time or money but not both at the same time it seems!

LMK if you think you want my help - it may be another year with quite a few weekends booked for me. At present nothing is really planned/set but know it will start happening soon so please PM/email me if you really need my assistance at different construction stages.

I, too, would like to see an Indy GTG. Though, I imagine the
turnout might be small...but it would be allot better than no
turnout.

Though, weather bites, literally, right now. Springtime?

Cheers,

Lon

Thanks. Will do. I'm going to swing by the truss mfg this coming week to see how much the prices have changed over the last year.:(

Don't forget about the Central Ohio folks! Indy is only 3 hours from me and I'd make the trip if the timing were right. (except for April 19th, when you all should be coming here to my GTG!) ;) :) :D

Hell, I might even make it down for an Indy GTG. I've got in-laws on the west side of the city and I've made the Marquette Road -> Skyway -> I-65 and back trek more times than I care to count! :D

Given enough advance notice, I usually bring a keg of homebrew in addition to tools. ;) Some folks like wrenches, some folks like cold ones. I like both.

First I've seen this about Greg bowing out of TDI work.
He did my timing belt. Sorry to hear.

FWIW, just noticed another listing on the guru faq...

Jeff's Volkswagen Repair
10463 N Kitchen Rd
Mooresville, IN 46158
(317) 834-6424

All I know is the listing, no personal contact yet.
At least he's on my side of Indy. (east central IL)

I know the thread said Indianapolis, but can I throw my hat in the ring. :D

I would love to see a central Indiana GTG.

BTW, the best biodiesel pump I've ever been to is just NE of Indy in Noblesville - allegedly the address is 16222 Allisonville Rd Noblesville, IN 46060, but I think that's the office with which it is associated. The actual pump is somewhere on the west side of 10th street (and at the south side of the cross street, whatever that is). It's pay at the pump B5/B10/B20 from Indiana soybeans & Illinois River Basin-sourced crude. Great stuff!

Indy 500?

OK folks, I am an Indy southsider by birth, and grew up in Greenfield. I live in Omaha, NE now, but come back home to Indy every year to watch the Indy 500. I have four tickets on the outside of Turn 4. Looking for two people interested in tickets. Either $70 or $75 each. I will be there for sure and I hope to have my fiance with me. Would love to have a couple TDI friends join us.

Definitely! My wife fills up her '04 Passat TDI there along with fuel
for the Deere and Grasshopper. I fill up there when I'm home from MS.
The cleanest diesel pumps I've ever seen.

I wish they carried something beyond B20 for my '02 NB. B50 would
be nice and an occasional tank of B99 would be great.

It's located at the Co-op. I wish Indiana would quit taxing diesel at
such exorbitant rates. It's a lot cheaper for me to drive in from MS;
fill-up in Kentucky; drive to Indy; cruise about; and head back to MS
with a quick top-off in Kentucky.

HPC- I have used countrymark bio for about four years now, and b20 exclusively since they started carrying it. Before they remodled they just had b5, and I had to go to the Tipton co-op for b20. If you ever see a silver golf that looks like a GTI filling up or a tornado red jetta, the odds are they belong to me.

DOG- Franklin is about as close to Indy as Noblesville is- we just need to centralize!

Convert- Setting posts is easy. if you have the equipment and the manpower. I can show you all the tricks (or I can just help you do it.) The real trick is in straightening the walls after the trusses are set.
