Take a deep breath and think about this folks. Unless you have never purchased or sold a home, car, boat, RV, motorcycle, four wheeler, or large appliance and never plan to do so for the remainder of your lives you'll have to get over your mistrust. You can't go through life with a cardboard box full of paper currency changing hands .

The EFT or paper check offered by VW is the way the world transacts business. You'll walk away from the turnover transaction with either a paper check which for the skeptics could be bogus and a receipt signed by a VWAG representative proving VW took possession of your car.

If the check bounces or the EFT doesn't occur as promised it wouldn't take 15 minutes to find a lawyer happy to file a lawsuit against VWAG on your behalf.

I have asked my VW dealer "Ambassador" for clarification of the EFT process. Hopefully, when I arrive for my buyback tomorrow, the Settlement Specialist will not have to learn as she goes through the process. I believe there should be some clear information given beforehand to us about the EFT process, timing, etc.

Let us know if you get the Chase story... As of 7pm EST tonight I have not received the email from Chase asking for my bank info

Once again, a thread that started out with the intention of becoming a source of information (on the turn-in processj in this instance) has been rendered useless by the huge noise-to-signal ratio in the responses.

Thank you, wilcharl, for your efforts on our behalf.

You can transfer Lifetime Sirius. I did it 3 times so far. They charge $75. You can call them or do it using their chat function. I called for the third time and the lady waived the $75 charge.
I've transferred many times in the past ($75 fee the last couple times) but now they say no go, transferred too many times :(

I think your car is "navigation equipped" if you turn it in with Nav right??? I would expect credit for it having the RNS.
PM me when your all settled up and I will be glad to pay shipping!
Yep, should be! Wasn't factory installed but it's a factory unit. I didn't put it in the initial claim because I was thinking of taking it out but now that I realize it won't fit in my 2017 I'm willing to just leave it in if they give me the extra money.
I'll let you know if I trade it in with the RNS. Your Dad's Tiguan doesn't have a backup cam right?

Is there an option to transfer it to non-chase accounts pretty easily?

They send you an email, you select a password, enter your account # and routing number and its done. Confirmation email is sent to you immediately

Very pleased with how everything has gone.. They really did put a lot of thought into the actual buyback process to make it go quick and easy

I'm very relieved to read this! I turn in mine tomorrow and also selected to EFT process.

Admittedly feeling a little melancholy about the whole thing. Really liked the car and it was a farewell gift from a church I served last year. So kinda reflective about it all but I'm grateful for the buyback funds and a conclusion to the matter.

ChaCHING!
Not surprisingly, I got mine, too.

My Chase email had a time stamp of 5:25 pm (PST), 27 hours and 18 minutes after the time on the transaction receipt from VW. Not "within 24 hours," but it's Thanksgiving, so I'm okay with it. When you factor in the quoted 1-2 day timeframe from Chase, odds are I'll have my money within the 3-day window.

Overall, I've been happy with the process. Even though there were a couple little snags yesterday, I think they've got a system that will work really well once they're up to speed. On the other hand, scaling-up is a notoriously difficult problem, so it's tough to say how long it will be before everyone's appointment is completely routine and trouble-free. I've got my fingers crossed for the rest of you!

No problem, I called them and mentioned the TDI buy-back and they said once it's bought back I send them a copy of the buy-back paper and they will transfer the subscription for me! There is hope! Now I hope vw will give me an extra $690 for the nav (if I go by the calculator) and I'll be all set!
I bank with chase so I'm guessing it'll be a direct deposit?

Outstanding! Thanks so much for posting your updates. I'm selling mine back this afternoon, will keep you all posted if anything differs substantially from wilcharl's experience.

So here is a concern with the EFT process that TDIClub member ERICY figured out (I didn't realize it when I did the EFT)

The Chase Portal does nothing to validate you are who you say you are (doesn't ask for your VIN or anything)

IF someone has your email password and intercepts the email before you or gets ahold of the Chase URL in the email, Chase/VW have no safeguards to prevent someone from typing their account routing/acct # in the link and sucking the money into their account before you even get it.

Sending a hot link with the money attached to it in an unsecure email puts the money at the mercy of your email accounts security.

In hindsight I think I would have done the paper check for instant gratification , but the EFT process was quick and seamless

I'm thinking that Chase would verify the name on the account associated with the account number provided before the money is sent.

Wow! This is good news, and good information. Make sure the email account used is secure (always good advice). Maybe set up a brand new gmail account beforehand just for this? I wonder if tdicashmoney @ gmail is taken. ;)

I was actually thinking the exact opposite. Since folks have heard VW is giving money out, this makes great theme for phishing bank info. Sending this info out far and wide, you would eventually get someone, probably many to send you their info.

I am not sure if setting up a new account will help. They would use the one that I already configured when I started the claims process, and trying to change it now is asking for trouble.

I am looking into whether I can essentially pre-register, which would block any fraudsters, but I am not yet sure if I am in the right place on the Chase site. Based on what I see here:

https://www.chase.com/personal/mobile-online-banking/p2p

It *appears* that unless you have an account at one of the giant banks, you probably sign up here:

https://www.clearxchange.com/.

But I am not yet 100% sure that this is correct.

The normal intended usage of this feature seems to be to send small amounts of cash to other people you know, and for those cases there is obviously far less to be concern about diverted payments, and it would be far less tempting for fraudsters.

In the descriptions so far, the buyback ambassador has a tablet. Why would you not just enter the information right there? A secure browser to whatever chase was sending as a link, done before you walk out the door.

You don't want this run through one of those micropayment sites, that's just asking for trouble.

Probably the easiest thing they could have done is simply scanned one of your checks, and that would have snagged the routing and account number. They could have then processed the payment directly. But they chose to not do this for some reason.

My problem is that I choose long random passwords for all financial accounts, and these passwords are all stored in a password vault. I really don't want to be trying to enter a 20 character random password into their tablet.
