Will not crank - Random

2000 Jetta have had it for a couple of months never failed to start, today I stopped to puck up groceries and came out hit the key, nothing. Hit it a few more times and cranked and started. Battery terminals are good, battery appears to have a full change and the engine was warm having shut it off 15 minutes prior.

Got home and tried in the driveway same issue. Being intermittent is a bugger to troubleshoot any ideas?

sounds like you need a new ignition switch

An engine must be 'cranked' in order to 'start', at which time it 'runs'.


Now, Does your car not 'crank', or 'crank' but not 'start'?

Does not crank. Power is there the dash is lit up and turn the key to turn over the engine and it will not torn over at all. Now after a few more tries it did so Ignition switch, maybe as qquenstdt indicates?? Relay 109 I am not familiar with the purpose.
