A6 Fuel Filter

How many fuel filters are on our TDIs?

My local dealership (service writer) told me that I needed to replace my fuel filters. I told him that I replaced the fuel filter already and that my car only has one fuel filter but he insisted that I needed to replace the second filter. I declined. Am I missing something here?

As far as I know it is just the one long cylindrical one under the car.

Thank you. That's what I thought. It's really sad as the service writer is an ambassador for his family, the dealership and Audi. They lost my trust.

OilHammer, Is there a screen at the fuel tank pickup? Perhaps he was talking about that although the need to service it is pretty remote unless some really bad fuel was picked up.

I think I see why the service writer said that.

Looking at the Audi OEM online catalog for my A6 TDI, it lists two separate SKUs for fuel filters ($32 vs $63) although they look identical and have the same label in the parts diagram for the fuel system.

Edit: I was mistaken. They are two separate filters for two different fuel systems, both of which the system says is a fit for my car. Very confusing.
