• The TDIClub classifieds section is a heavily trafficked section of the forum that encompasses want-to-buy (WTB) and for-sale (FS) threads for the entire world. Due to the demanding nature and fast pace of this section, it is imperative that you know and understand the rules. It is also important to remember that this is the only parts classifieds section.

Cross-posting and posting classifieds in the regional sections (except the dedicated thread in Ontario) is not permitted.

Multiple items should be sold in one thread. Make sure to provide a description for all items in your post along with pictures and prices. If you start multiple threads with individual items, they will be locked or combined at the discretion of the moderators.

Here is a quick outline of the classifieds section rules. If you don't follow these rules, you subject yourself to thread deletion, thread combination, infractions, or posting privilege revocation.

    Thread titles:
    • Put FS or WTB in your thread title. This will let other users know if you are selling or buying.
    • Briefly describe what you are selling. Thread titles have limited space. Be as descriptive, yet succinct, as possible.
    • Put your location in the title.
    • If space allows, put your price in the title

Title example (single item): "FS: 2004 Mk4/BEW cylinder head - Portland, OR - $500"
Title example (multiple items): "FS: MK6 fog lights, front bumper, headlights, grill - Detroit, MI"
Title example (car part-out): "FS: Mk3 Jetta parting out engine & interior - Dallas, TX"

    Thread text descriptions and pictures:
    • All for-sale threads must include pictures of the items that you are selling. One picture is sufficient, but multiple pictures with different angles will help buyers. A picture is worth a thousand words. If you don't know how to post pictures on TDIClub, see this thread: http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=286691
    • All for-sale threads must include a description. We don't charge per-word, so be as descriptive as possible. The more information you can provide, the easier it will be for buyers.
    • All for-sale threads must include a price. Auctions and bidding are not allowed. If you want to auction something off, use eBay.
No picture, no price, NO SALE!

    Thread maintenance/updates/bumps:
    • When you sell something, update your thread with "SOLD!" Moderators will close the thread and update the title.
    • If you have multiple items for sale, update your thread as each item has been sold. When everything has been sold, updated the thread with "ALL ITEMS SOLD!" Moderators will close the thread and update the title when all items have been sold.
    • If you bump your thread, please delete old bumps by clicking on EDIT and then deleting the old bump. This will reduce clutter in your thread and make it easier to read. It also makes you look less desperate.
    • If you drop your price, please update your first post in addition to posting the new price. If you would like the thread title changed, click on the report post icon and let a moderator know what you would like the title changed to.

    Moderator intervention and infraction points:
Moderators will be monitoring the classifieds section. If a moderator determines that you have not been following the rules listed above, corrections will be made and infraction points will be assessed to your account.

What is an infraction point? Simple - it's a system of keeping track of user behavior. A moderator can assign a point value based on the severity of the infraction, as well as an expiration date on the points assessed. If you accumulate a certain number of points, the system will auto-ban you for a predefined amount of time. The more points you accumulate, the longer your ban period will be.

One example of points is as follows: multiple threads will be combined into a single thread, with the number of infraction points assessed corresponding to the number of threads merged. If we merge four threads into one, then you will be assessed four points that expire in 30 days. When you reach five points, the system will auto-ban you for one day.*

*This is an example based on the current infraction system structure. We reserve the right to modify the infraction system at any time without notice or updates to this announcement.

Thank you for your cooperation, and good luck with your sales and searches! :)

Got rear-ended and the ins co wants to give me a salvage seat frame and transfer over my parts. Not happy and looking for a good complete seat pulled out from a part out or upgrade. Let me know what you have. Thanks!

Wanted to check back again. I am changing what I am looking for...I need a BLACK cloth GLS 2004 heated seat for my Jetta. Thought I would post again and see if anybody has one. I guess I am just looking for an exact complete seat that I can bolt right in. Thanks.

I have one, but shipping would be more than I want for the seat. Not exactly a helpful post here, sorry, but if you have a way of getting the seat to you, you can have it for $100?!

Good luck with your search...

Cheers,
-Chris

Would you be willing to find out what it would cost to ship to 26003? Mine was damaged in a rear-end collision & I still have to settle with ins co. Do you happen to have a picture?

They are the "velour" type fabric ones. Heated. Black in colour with a bit of a checker pattern. I'll see if I can dig up a pic. They are from an '04 wagon.

I could ship one to you for about $125 via greyhound, but you'd have to pick it up at a terminal around you.

I would say that's how I would describe mine. I know it's a GLS trim level and I think the seats are different than other trim levels. I don't know of any way off the top of my head that would ship something so bulky. We have a Greyhound terminal so that wouldn't be a problem. I will look for a picture, too so we can be certain the seats are the same. What is the condition of yours? And it does have heat?

BTW, if I had nothing better to do I could just drive up and get it;)

Are you looking to buy the entire seat, or just the frame?

I have bare frame sitting in my garage, if you want to entertain this idea of swapping parts, it is not that difficult at all

Preferably the whole thing. I am pushing the insurance company to give me more than what's in my estimate right now, which is next to nothing for a used seat part. When I questioned the shop they told me they would get a whole seat and swap my foam, cloth etc over which I wasn't wild about...only because i have heard you can damage the cloth, etc. By reading your post I think you would disagree and it's not too bad a job? What would you want for the frame? Is it easily shipped, or just as big as a whole seat?

Sorry I haven't got back to you. Honestly if you can find an option locally, that would be preferable for both of us I think ;)

I've got a couple busy days ahead of me but I'll get a pic of the seat soon...

Cheers,
-Chris

PS honestly swapping the covers and foam is really not that bad. It is a pain, but not that bad...

Well, which part of the frame got damaged, bottom the one that slides or the upper which is the back rest?

The bottom part is a piece of cake to swap, the upper part pops out there are 2 bots that are holding it up, and you have lower part standing alone

Shipping i don't think its going to be too bad, like i said depends which part you need

I don't know. Story is...got rear-ended. The next day seat feels 'funny'. Assuming it just got moved from the wreck, I attempt to adjust it and discover that both the height adjust and the recline (knob) are very difficult to move. So, when I go to get the est I tell the body shop who adds $67 to the estimate for a used seat back frame, some time for labor and when I question them they tell me what they will get is a complete seat and rebuild mine with the frame and that if it costs more than the estimate they will get it taken care of with the ins co. So, I push back to ins co about used parts and apparently this is common practice. I think my next move is to have ins co send an adjuster out to look things over, I will push for more money and then let them pay me and I will look after the seat and get a body shop to do bumper. But, it's not even bad...just cracked cover and I might just try to find one and swap it out myself. So, this is why I was searching for a complete seat to just swap out and I wouldn't have to mess with dis/re-assy.

Jesus, $67 for a seat back replacement? Surely the labour alone would justify the replacement of the complete seat. There's no arguing that it is easier to bolt in a new seat than swapping the back out!!

I PM'd you. The $67 was for the used seatback and then they had $114 for labor. So, $181 to get a used seat, take it apart and put my cloth on it. My problem with it.....the bottom adjuster doesn't work either and when I pushed them, they said the claim with the ins co would just be amended to include the bottom parts, but that it really wouldn't change the cost! Idiots! That's why I am pushing back to the ins co. This is one of those 'preferred' or partner shops that basically serve as the adjuster for the ins co as well as the repair shop. When I got frustrated and started pushing back at them they basically made it like I was being unreasonable and told me I have an old car with a worn out seat. Yes, I took offense to this and told them I would not let them touch my car and that I would find another shop. The problem with that is another shop has to start with the same estimate and so when I get the ins co called back I am going to ask for a field adjuster to come and look at it. I can make my case in person and see if they'll give me more for the seat repair so I can just get one and swap it out, which is why I am looking. I'm also thinking about just taking the money and finding a used bumper and valance (that black part under the bumper) and swapping it all out myself and being done with it. My only concern is paint match, but hell, you have that when they paint a new bumper anyhow!

Oh, BTW...I forgot to mention...I asked my Vee-Dub dealer for a ballpark price on a new seat. And the response was, that you can't get a new seat complete. It only comes as parts. And the parts dept est of the price...are you sitting down? $1,500!

I'm so so sorry that I totally forgot about this. I haven't been able to climb up on top of my office to pull a seat down yet, but I found this pic that I took while installing my nav. It shows the cloth/velour seat pattern clearly:

If that is the right pattern, let me know. I'll see about boxing it up and putting it on greyhound...

Cheers,
-Chris

I am viewing this from work and it doesn't allow pictures from flickr, so I will have to check when at home. Thanks for the reply.

Chris, that's not my pattern. I was surprised and disappointed! I appreciate you taking the time to post back!
