Sounds authoritative.
Do you work for EPA/CARB?
No sir I do not but with the EPA not requesting any additional info or parts updates in months from VW/Audi that would signal they have everything they need to give them approval if they did not they would have already requested additional docs.

I'll be the first one in line to try the fix. If I don't like it, I'll unload the car immediately.

As Tom Petty (RIP) sang, The Waiting is the hardest part.
GMC is running a special on Denalis that ends with the buyer having to take delivery by Dec. 18. Wanted to get a diesel Canyon Denali, but also want my final $4,500 payment. Don't see any way around it
Does anyone think I could do better on the open market with a 2014 Q5 TDI Prmium Plus with about 67,000 miles than I would get on a trade in?

Black Book retail for clean says $32,650. Trade in says $27,800. I remember last year, the GMC dealer was only offering me $26,000 on a trade, which was way too low. One item to take into account is the sales tax savings, so if I get close to $30,000 on trade, that saves $2100 in NJ sales sales, effectively enhancing the trade value. My experience in selling cars has not been great. Not sure it is worth it to try to sell for an extra $2,000. Is the market strong for used Q5 TDIs?

$26,000 seem like a fair trade in offer to me. My 2014 premium plus q5 with 40,000 miles has been to two dealers and both only offered me $24,000 if one would offer me $26,000 I would of took it.

That was last year (2016). I'm guessing the offer would be another $3-4,000 lower this year. I decided to wait it out to see what would happen (buyback or fix).

Assuming a fix is available, when is the owner of a vehicle legally entitled to the second payment? As soon as the fix is completed? In other words, if a fix is scheduled Dec. 28 and registered, can an owner sell their vehicle on Dec. 29 and still receive the second check?

The fix has to be completed, then the money is paid. If you sell the car without completing the new owner would get the payment.

If it is a fix, they will probably not start scheduling until mid January, right? Those trade in numbers seem low to me, IF the fix doesn't neuter it, $26,000 is a tough start to replacing a 2014 Q5. If it does **** the bed post fix, what are you thinking of going to take its place?

If EPA/CARB approves a fix like some of the Q7's and the Touareg's, the government and the PSC lawyers would have sold out the trust of the car owners, and the American public. It's even worse than what VW had done.

Can you explain?

Is $26,000 on a 4 year old vehicle with 67,000 miles such a low number?
Looking at a GMC Canyon Denali pickup truck with a Duramax diesel. Have been waiting for the debut of the Mazda CX-5 diesel, but the introduction has been continually delayed.

no, not for the 67,000 miles. But the $26,000 number was in reference to a 2014 Q5 pp with 40,000 miles, pasted from above.

MBQ... I totally agree with you...its going to get really interesting as there are at least twice as many PC class owners than the combined number of Q7's and Touregs. Honestly, even aside from the substantive fix (mine came out fine), the horrible and slow process is well beyond any acceptable commercial standard. If they focused on getting the process done in a timely and professional manner, I was still a fan of the great cars they produce. But not being open about exactly what the performance numbers post fix are, not offering the option of a buyback, not handling the claims process like a class organization...

VAG has made a corporate decision that the truth must be hidden at all costs. In my own personal opinion, the handling of the initial lie is way more damaging than the initial lie. Its an arrogant, condescending way to do business.

The reason I liked VW and Audi is the same reason I liked the Jeep Wrangler. Form always followed function, and they tried to pretend they were something other than what they were. Audi has very much gone the way of BMW, Mercedes, and Porsche in this last decade. More bling and show, less understated than years gone by. They seem to be running the company the same way now. A lack of moral fiber, not nearly as transparent as they once were. Maybe thats just the current "normal"?
