Is there a disconnected hose next to the battery?

Hi:

I noticed today there is a disconnected hose next to the battery, between the battery and the engine, underneath the air intake hose.

See pic below, you can see the open end of the hose:




What is going on here???

You can see my "disconnected hose" in the last photo on that page, labeled as "heater hose... for cold air intake bypass." So it looks like this hose is supposed to hang by itself?

Answered my own question

That hose is supposed to connect to a 2ndary opening on the air filter box.

I had an accident in which the air filter box was cracked and replaced like 10,000 miles ago. Evidently the body shop forgot to connect the hose
