Any one remove the harmonic balancer from a AHU, when putting in a 1980 rabbit and have the engine last. sticking with the original pulleys and A/C setup.

Thanks Mark

Not sure why you would want to. I have mk1 swaps using the ahu/1z balancer, not an issue

Well , talked to an expert out here , says I can omitt the harmonic balancer, not optimum but will work, this is the 1.5 setup, also could use a 1.6 harmonic balancer? Will see.

You could try the HB from a 1.6TD but there's no guarantee that it would line up properly.

I'm assuming you want to keep the v-belt setup for some reason? You could just swap everything over and run serpentine, it would simplify the belt mess quite a bit.

On my old 86 Golf with AC there were always belt alignment issues.
