long story short car was in the body shop because i got backed into.
well yesterday when i was driving home from the shop i got the message
keyless not activated i was not sure what it meant. stopped and did some shopping and when i went to get in the car it would not unlock by touching the door handle, i used the FOB. started the car and got the massage again.
drove home and tried using just my hand/finger tips to unlock and it wont unlock.
i went through all the menus and submenus and can't find anything about
activating/deactivating the keyless system.
can any of you point me in the right direction thanks.

A body shop forgot to reconnect the plug on the Kessy antenna behind the back seat on me, and, iirc, I got the same thing. A VCDS scan pointed right to it. Without all three antennas, the car can't tell what door you are standing at, so disables the system.

i've come to the conclusion they screwed something up in the passenger door
the only damage to the car was the the door.

If my car was just worked on, and something like this happened, I'd be on the insurance company claiming that as damage consequential to the original wreck.

If this was not an issue before the wreck and is an issue after getting the car back from the body shop, I would take it back to the body shop and explain this to them and request it be fixed on their dime. The shops pad the estimate due to discovery work once they get into the job so they should fix it.

took it back to body shop, i have to bring the car to VW dealer to have the FOB's
reprogrammed,
body shop manager said they should have caught that.
I WILL NOT HAVE TO PAY BODY SHOP ALREADY CALL FOR PRICE AND CUT ME A CHECK
FOR 104.00

and it was not the FOB, VW got the charge the body shop $305.00
to replace the harness up to the door handle because they broke
the plug when reinstalling it. all is good now and i'm a happy camper
