Snow chains for 2010 Golf TDI

I still don't fully understand how the Thule ones tighten the actual chain part but they look to be as good of traction. Not having the hub mounted on would be nice at times but it also is slower to install the chains. That is the biggest difference I see in the two. Also the carrying case is better for the spike-spider then the one in the video. The video had cloth and the one I have is a zippered one with a plastic tarp like material.

Thule uses tension from the spring arms to center itself onto the tire.

It doesn't seem to be significantly slower (carry a rachet & socket)...but Thule doesn't rate it that well for ice.

my carrying case for the spikes spider sport is a nylon bag with a drawstring
