Thanks for responses!! I'm not sure what the "conductors" are? Crutchfield put together a new wiring plug from the Pioneer radio to plug into the VW harness to eliminate me cutting and soldering wires.

I like KrashDH's idea of a on-off relay in the main power wire to the crossover, if I can tell which wire at the crossover is the power one.

On the amp (crossover):
Pin 18 (red) is power.
Not sure about 21 and 23, both are red and possibly connect to the pin 18 wire.

Back to this...2002 Jetta TDI stereo. Went back through setup on new Pioneer 701 setup and changed speakers to "center". Now I have sound from all 4 woofers but no sound from the 4 tweeters. Could it be the crossover in the trunk or just bad tweeters, or both?

Thanks.

Where did you set "center"?
I assume you tried other settings.
You could measure the resistance to each speaker.
Easiest way would be at the plug going into the crossover (amp).

I ran all new speaker wires when I installed a Kenwood.
Real wire, not the thin VW wire.
No headaches. :)
