I'm looking to borrow someone's compression tester for some diag work on the Jetta. It's hard to believe that out of all of the damn tools I have I don't have a working diesel compression tester  .

Either that, or recommendations for a good brand to look for (Strap-on, Matco, Crapsman, any others you can think of). My old one was a hand-me-down from the 60's, no worky no more.

Thanks,

Ryan

I already know what your gonna say but Harbor freight has a reliable tester for a good price.

$25 @ Harbor Freight J? Seems reasonable, are they good to use more than once? Have you used their leak down tester? Need to see if they have the right fittings for VW.

I haven't been there in awhile but everything I've bought there so far has been awesome. Got the 3 pack of those fiberglass ball-peen hammers years ago, treated em through hell 'n back, still hammerin strong.

They work pretty good.

You might ahve to hold the hose to the adapter to get a really tight fit as someone else cranks it though. Just a forwarning.

I have both if you want to come use them.
