I'm prepping to do the first TB on my car. Just called Aaron to get the kits ordered. Ordering the Metalnerd tools tomorrow. Hopefully it all gets here in time for the weekend.

Looking at the Article on TB replacement http://tdiclub.com/articles/A3-TimingBelt gives no real guidance on an acceptable setting except that the numbers he shows are slightly on the advanced side which he prefers. The section in the FAQ about adjusting the timing http://tdiclub.com/TDIFAQ/TDiFAQ-7.html#k tells how to check it with one set of numbers against a chart in a service manual (which I do not have). Then it gives a different method to check if you don't have a manual.

Is there any advantage to doing it the first way? Is it more accurate? I'm content to do it the second way, but if I can get a better result the other way, I'd like to know that and eventually check it that way too.

Thanks,
Mark
