Hi,

I was not able to drive at high speeds in the past months and now I had the chance to get the car on the highway and max throttle it. In the meantime I changed my air intake system with a cone K&N filter and now I see that on the highway my car doesn't get past 180KM/h no matter what so I changed back to stock filter and with this one
I can't get past 170KM/h no matter what. What should I suspect? could it be the MAF? could the MAF get broken after a normal K&N filter mounting?

Read the TDIFAQ troubleshooting section that concerns lack of power.

Sounds like a MAF to me. And the stock airbox and filter put the final nail in the coffin.

p.s. I disagree with the title of this thread. Your can can ALWAYS reach its maximum speed.

Yes indeed I did a "on road" test today with the VAG1552 and it showed at 3k rpm in the second and third gear just 550g/H instead of something like 880 .. I'll just have to replace the damn thing and it costs here about 300$ (more actually).
