First Oil Change and Manual Tranny Fluid Change

Hello all,

I know both of these topics have been discussed in depth already. Just wanted to ask for opinions on the best engine oil and tranny oil for my 2001 1.9 L TDI.

Since I have owned the thise car I have gotten the oil changed at quick lube places (a sin I know ) But I just moved into a new place with a garage, so Im ready to start doing things myself again!

And since I just rolled over 111,000 miles; I figured it would be a good time for both of these changes.

Any advice you can give, from oils, to any tricks/tips to make things go better; would be greatly appreaciated.

Chose any oil and lube that meets the specifications listed in your owner's manual. Too bad they likely did not use the correct oil at the quick lube place. .. Well may be they got it right for your engine.

Has the timing belt been replaced? If not don't put that one off. It is past due and if it fails, it often means a new engine, at your expense

Yes, I had the belt replaced around 80K.

Use EU OEM top and best Hengst filters, fuel & oil, and Mobil1 oil.

I recommend you to change your tranny fluid to OEM one (G052).
