Wondering if the rims/tires from my '14 Passat SEL will fit on my 2006 Jetta? I know the bolt pattern is the same. The Passat tires are 235/45-18.

The tires are near/over the maximum (in my limited experience), but possibly might work if you're at stock ride height. The speedometer will show inaccurate speed. The ideal size to eventually use would be 225/40R18.

I've rubbed with 225/50R18 (Chicago 18") at stock ride height with fuel and passengers. I've also lost fuel economy with 18"s when comparing to the Jetta 16" alloy wheels (Bioline 16").

I had that feeling. Thanks for your input. Found a set of 17's from an 09 I may look at. I would guess these should fit. 225/45r17 is the tire size.

Yes, 17" will fit with stock or even a mildly lowered setup. 225/45r17 will maintain the diameter for speedometer accuracy. However, I do not know what the manufacturer recommended inflation pressures should be. On my 17" Goal set I stay between 35-37 PSI.

I have 19's on mine, and its lowered. As long at the offset is correct and the tires are of the right profile. it should be fine.
