There are lots of possibilities, we need more information.

Let's start with the car. Your profile only says you have a Jetta (really should have told us that in your message) but not what year or how many miles.

Did you buy the car new? If not how many of those miles are yours and how long ago did you get the car?

Have you had any other problems with it prior to this?

Does the problem happen every time you try to start it or sometimes? When did it first start?

Have you had any other problems that might be related, even if you think they are not related?

How about maintenance? Is all the recommended maintenance up to date? How about fuel and air filters?

Do you have a CEL (Check Engine Light)? Has anyone else looked into this problem?

There maybe a few other things, but that should do for a start.
